Earlier this year we examined the meaning of grace…that grace is rooted in the character of God in his goodness, compassion and kindness that motivates him to take actions that will help those in need. Our need for salvation, for a way to deal with the problem of sin was solved in Christ when God expressed his compassion and freely offered to us the gift of grace.

Deuteronomy is a sermon or sermons from Moses to the Israelites just before they enter the Promised Land. In these chapters, Moses reminds Israel of the covenant between Israel and God. In this covenant it was God who acted first, who called and redeemed. Israel’s response is should reflect God’s grace in a life of worship, ethical community and peculiar generosity.
