The first 6 week cycle of 2009 will focus on personal spiritual growth. The leadership would like every member of the congregation to spend these six weeks reflecting on their own needs for spiritual growth and to set some concrete spiritual growth goals for 2009. We want to continue to be an intentional congregation with a particular focus on helping every member to grow.

The theme for 2009 is Embracing Grace. Grace is an idea familiar to our thinking but sometimes it is foreign to our hearts. We accept that God has extended grace to us, but we continue to pursue righteousness following rules, we continue to feel the need to appease God’s anger, and we continue to feel guilty. In cycles 2 and 7 we will focus specifically on Embracing Grace and the idea of grace will also flow through all of our other studies this year. We Invite you to join us as we study the following areas in a series of six week studies:

LTC (Leadership Training For Christ) is a convention held at several places around the country (we’re going to the one in Indianapolis) that promotes leadership training in a variety of areas for students.  You can give speeches, lead singing, perform a drama or puppet show, decorate banners, and several other things.  Sign ups will begin the first Sunday of January, and we’ll begin practicing Sunday afternoons in February.  If you have any questions, see Jake or Steve.

They have asked, and they shall receive!  Due to the fact that Monday, January 19th is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the local schools will be closed that day.  Due to the fact that schools are closed on the 19th, CYG will be hosting a lock-in here at the building Starting at 6 pm with Lifegroup.  This is going to be a great chance for our teens to bring their friends to us, and for us to reach out to some unchurched teens.  More info will be on its way, but go ahead and mark your calendars for this date.  You don’t want to miss it!
