“Helping International Students Feel At Home”

Every year more than 500 international students arrive in Southern Illinois to attend SIU. Many of these students arrive with their families and whatever they can fit into a couple of suitcases. Many of them are in need of essential household goods to furnish their apartments such as a beds, tables, cooking utensils, and couches.

The Carbondale Church of Christ is organizing a community effort to provide furniture and household goods to these international students. We see this effort as a way to show hospitality and share the peace of God. Volunteers are needed to help with processing, cleaning, repairing, and moving donations as well as interfacing with the international students and organizing events.
